Once I tasted it, I needed to know more, and on the discovery, I found out that Golden Milk Ayurveda benefits our health. Let’s find out more. Plus can make it at home yourself with our ayurvedic Golden Milk recipe a try.

The History of Golden Milk

In ancient India, people believed drinking cow’s milk would lead to good health. Cows are sacred animals in India, and eating is taboo. So, instead of consuming cow’s milk, they drank a mixture of water and ghee (clarified butter). This mixture became known as “golden milk” because it had a yellowish color. The combination of water and ghee helps to cleanse the body and promote healthy digestion.

Why Is This Drink Called “Golden Milk”?

Today, golden milk is still consumed by some people who believe that it has healing properties. However, there are other reasons why this drink is called “golden milk.” First, it contains both water and ghee. Second, it is made with raw milk. Third, it is often served warm. And fourth, it is sometimes mixed with spices such as cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, nutmeg, cloves, and turmeric.

“Milk” comes from the Latin mola, which means “to flow.” In Ayurvedic medicine, milk is considered one of the most nourishing foods because it provides essential nutrients for the body. Ghee is clarified butter that is used in many Indian dishes. It is believed to help improve digestion and boost immunity. Raw milk is said to provide energy and promote longevity. Cinnamon, cardamom, clove, ginger, nutmeg, black pepper and turmeric have medicinal benefits. These ingredients in golden milk are added to the milk to enhance its flavor. And don’t worry if you are Vegan. You can use plant-based alternatives!
